Hi Liz, an excellent article from Doug that shines a much-needed focus on far too many individuals in leadership positions.
It is my observation, within my own profession, that so many of those in a leadership position seem to believe that leadership is their ‘license’ to abuse the privilege that comes with authority.
Not to oversimplify the concern, I find that issues of insecurity and ego are quite common with these types of authority figures. Their methods are anything but ‘leadership’.
One of the most important responsibilities of a leader is to develop new leaders to follow in their place when the time comes. To do that, Doug has identified a strong model in this article.
Respectfully,
I couldn’t agree with you more, Steve. Thank you for sharing your valuable observations.
